Virtual Interview Tips at Ntrepid

Secure Your Dream Job from Home

While COVID-19 has caused many sudden changes, we’re still hiring! Ntrepid is looking for dedicated career seekers to join our company. As we move our interviews to a virtual setting, we’re here to help you maintain your confidence and succeed in communicating your expertise. Follow our tips as you prepare for and engage in virtual interviews.

1. Do your research

Just as you would prepare for an in-person interview, you should come prepared to talk about yourself. Similarly, bring a list of questions to ask the recruiter, interview team panel, and hiring manager. Check out the Ntrepid website to learn useful information about us. Additionally, read through the instructions that your recruiter has sent you. This will give you an idea of the interview process and ensure you have the correct date and time of your scheduled interview.

2. Select an interview setting

Before beginning your interview, you’ll want to choose an appropriate setting carefully. You should pick a quiet place that won’t be interrupted by noises from pets, family members, and televisions. Then, choose an area with a plain wall in the background to avoid distracting your interviewer. The goal is to ensure the focus remains on you throughout the entire interview.

3. Test your technologies

Technology isn’t always as reliable as we would like. Glitches will inevitably happen! Before the interview, check your Wi-Fi’s connectivity to avoid potential outages. Try to use a hardwired connection if possible. Test that your equipment is functioning properly, including webcams, microphones, and speakers. Familiarize yourself with GoToMeeting, our virtual interviewing software, before the interview starts.

4. Dress the part

Even though you’ll be participating in an online interview, it’s still important to dress for success and feel confident. Make sure to wear the clothing you would typically wear to an in-person interview. This could include a suit and button-down shirt and other professional attire.

5. Keep contact information nearby

At Ntrepid, our recruiters are your main point of contact and support throughout the virtual interview process. Confirm that you have the contact information of your recruiter on hand during the interview. If you get disconnected or have technical difficulties, you can reach out to your recruiter quickly to let them know. You’ll be assisted through any problems without the need to worry about losing your chances of being hired.

6. Set up your workstation

Creating a comfortable and well-equipped workstation can minimize interview anxiety. Prepare your station with a glass of water as well as pen and paper for notetaking to eliminate keyboard typing noises. We also recommend having your resume easily accessible on your computer and ready to share by email in case our interviewers ask for it.

7. Maintain professionalism

Good first impressions are important for any interview. Our Ntrepid team wants to see you at your very best. To cultivate a professional digital presence during the interview, make sure to close any unnecessary tabs and applications that might send notifications, such as email and social media accounts. Eliminating these distractions will allow you to maintain your focus.

8. Ask questions

The Ntrepid interview process is not one-sided, so you’ll want to come prepared with questions for us. We strive to keep the candidate informed and comfortable throughout the interview. Ask questions about your onboarding process. Our team is happy to discuss benefits, company culture, and more.

9. Be Yourself

Ntrepid values individuality, creativity, and a willingness to solve difficult challenges. Although the interview process can be stressful – especially during such uncertain times – we encourage you to remain calm and confident in your abilities. There is a reason why you were selected for an interview with us. We are eager to learn more about you and the value you could bring to our team.

Virtual interviews don’t have to be daunting. We want your expertise and individuality to appear evident, even through a computer screen. Hopefully, these tips will provide you with the assurance you need to excel in your interview and earn a place on our team. If you have additional questions, always feel free to reach out to your recruiter. We wish you the best of luck!
