Overview

We are seeking a Quality Assurance Lead to join our dynamic manual testing team.  The candidate for this job will be able to develop rigorous testing processes and have a proven track record of improving quality for front-line applications and environments.  The role also requires the candidate to assist in producing test scenarios and repeatable test cases through all part of the development lifecycle.  The candidate should be naturally curious, passionate about solving business problems through high-quality solutions, and be someone who has demonstrated flexibility in meeting the needs of a challenging, fast-paced business environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee east and west coast testing staff and activities for all assigned applications.
  • Serve as gateway to the QA Director by communicating test progress, test results, and other relevant information
  • Advocate for the use of best quality practices and methodologies. Participate actively in all phase of the software development lifecycle.
  • Develop and establish quality assurance measures and testing standards for new and or existing products throughout software development lifecycle
  • Identify needed test resources, estimate test effort and work with QA Director to define the master test schedule
  • Communicate the test coverage and deployment risks for new product development
  • Serve as an escalation point for issues involving testing
  • Hands-on testing hardware and software manually and automatically
  • As required, participate in the translation of User Stories and Detail Designs into Test Plans, Test Cases and/or Test Scripts
  • As required, create test plans and assist with development, implementation, and execution of new tests and test scripts
  • As required, define and participate in unit, functional, system and regression testing
 Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizenship Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in MIS, computer science, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 10+ years of experience in QA and applications testing
  • 2-4 years of experience in leading QA teams
  • Experience with QA processes and methodologies, particular black box testing and testing of Java and Perl applications
  • Experience with Agile SDLC
  • Experience with collaborating with Product Mangers and Developers
  • Experience with using test management tools
  • Experience with defect reporting and tracking software (Jira is a plus)
  • Experience with operating in Linux and Unix environments (basic commands, running scripts, but not necessarily coding)
  • Experienced user of SQL to create data sets
  • Exposure to PC and Mac experience required
  • Attention to detail and solid oral and written communications skills a must
  • Highly dependable, adaptable to independent and team assignments and able to work in structured and unstructured environments
